Aspen Cheung is a designer from Hong Kong and a recent RIBA Part I graduate from the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) who is currently based in Edinburgh. They are especially drawn to the projects with social and civic potential, believing that architecture should be shaped by and for the people who use it.

Their multidisciplinary background spans architecture, film photography, product, and graphic design, which has enabled them to present and develop architectural designs via analogue and digital means. Their work is rooted in a curiosity about how things are made—particularly through architectural detailing and the craft of construction. In recent projects, the designs centered on adaptive reuse and material-led detailing, utilizing the local context to strengthen civic life and community placemaking while minimizing the embodied and operational carbon of the proposals.

During a previous placement, they gained experience in design processes that involved direct community engagement and formulated graphics for a Wellbeing Design Guide for public housing. This experience deepened their understanding of accessibility and the importance of building meaningful communities, strengthening their commitment to create spaces that are both contextually responsive and socially grounded.
